An early warning system along with other prevention measures can save the country from huge losses, as Kailali has proved

This year, Nepal suffered great human and economic losses due to floods and landslides. Whether it was the massive landslide at Jure in Sindhupalchowk, which killed a large number of people residing on the hill slope and blocked trade with China, or the recent flood across the country that killed many individuals and damaged households and infrastructures along the East-West Highway and its sub-roads linking India to the major cities of the country, water-induced natural disasters have had great negative effects. The government, through its naive post-disaster mechanisms, has not been able to respond efficiently and the communities affected by the shocks have been left in disarray.-
