Date: Nov 15, 2017

Mr.Yu Xue (Martin), a young successful entrepreneur and passionate philanthropist from China, paid a visit to Mercy Corps project in Kailali District and spent two days in the field and Kathmandu for an orientation of Mercy Corps programming in Nepal. Martin founded Peal Humanitarian Rescue with register in China and Front Field Doctor with register in Geneva. Both organizations are aiming to provide humanitarian and development aid to the developing world. Martin's team have worked with Mercy Corps' response team in Ecuador earthquake and Haiti hurricane on the ground.

During his visit, he had interacted with local cooperative, visited young women who started their business from MC STEM program and met with different community groups who were directly benefited from the MC programme . STEM is a programme funded by UK AID to improve girls' learning and encourage girls who are in school to remain there until they pass their School Leaving Certificate (SLC), and also to help those who are out-of-school (OOS) and dropped out in the past four years to return to formal education and remain in school thereafter. Aside from providing academic support in Science, Math’s and English, and the club curriculum covering Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) as well as Life Skills, the clubs present further opportunities to the girls, acting as private and typically female-only sites for social networking and peer support - a provision which is otherwise lacking in girls' lives. Martin attached great importance to health sector for pregnant women and new born babies. He also briefly visited a community health post at Dhangadhi Sub metropolitan city , Beli and Kailali zonal  Hospital.

Through this visit, MC look forward to an joint effort with Martin and his team to support more vulnerable population in Nepal and other developing world.
