Generation Amazing: Youth Ambassador Programme

• Engagement of youth in the community through football
• Selection of six Youth Ambassadors from three communities in Nepal
• A trip to Qatar and Brazil from 16 June to 28 June 2014. The trip will include leadership training, meetings and football matches with youth from other cultures, and attendance at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil™

In 2010, Qatar won the right to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup™. As part of Qatar’s successful bid to host the tournament, the Generation Amazing Youth Ambassador Programme was launched in Nepal, Qatar, Pakistan, Lebanon and Syria. The programme aimed to empower a new generation of young leaders and motivate them to use football to create positive development outcomes in their communities.

This year, the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC), the organization tasked with leading Qatar’s preparations to host an amazing 2022 FIFA World Cup™ that leaves a lasting legacy in Qatar, the Middle East and globally, is engaging a new generation of Youth Ambassadors in Nepal, Qatar, Pakistan and Jordan. The SC is delivering the Generation Amazing Youth Ambassador Programme in partnership with Right To Play and Mercy Corps.

Mercy Corps cooperated in the implementation of the Generation Amazing programme in 2010, in the Far Western Terai. Both the SC and Mercy Corps are committed to using the power of sport to promote social cohesion and engage youth in development issues. In addition to the SC and Mercy Corps, the local schools and youth clubs in your community will assist in ensuring the project’s success.

Project participants will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop their leadership and football skills with other young people from around the world.
